Recently, MP Thai at Vision Exchange got listed in the Michelin Guide with a Michelin Bib Gourmand.

Wait, what?

Sorry sorry, I have not heard of this Thai restaurant before.

For some context, the other Thai restaurant you can find in the Guide is Un-Yang-Kor-Dai (South Bridge Road).

Partly because it is found at Vision Exchange Jurong East, which is not the usual haunt for Thai food.

There are other outlets at 6 Battery Road and Shenton House.

I ventured to Venture Drive, and found it a casual humble shop that you may just walk past and miss.

The menu at MP Thai has both affordability and variety, catering to both individual diners and groups with a selection that spans the breadth of Thai cuisine.

This ranges from Tomyum Soup Hotpot ($18), MP Thai Mookata ($39), Yentafo Tomyum Hotpot ($20), Basil Century Egg with Minced Pork ($15), Green Curry Pork ($12), Deep Fried Squid with Garlic ($15), to Pad Thai ($7).

There are occasional off-the-menu items, such as Crab Salad and Raw Oysters when I visited.

Even though I have not yet tried a breath of their dishes yet, the Mama Mini Hot Pot Seafood ($15) was pretty legit.

For its price, it featured a generous assortment of fresh seafood including shrimp, squid, and mussels, all simmered in a flavourful broth.

The part I enjoyed most was the soup infused with traditional Thai herbs and spices such as lemongrass, galangal, and kaffir lime, that gave it both zest and aroma.

Except that I would have preferred the base to be slightly thicker.

Good for the individual (when hungry) or sharing.

The Thai Style Omelette ($10) was understandably on the oily side.

What sets it apart was its texture and the slight crispiness on the outside, while remaining soft and fluffy on the inside.

As for the BBQ Pork Sticks ($8) better known as Moo Ping, they were marinated in a blend of soy sauce, garlic, and sugar, then grilled.

While the exterior could have been more smoky tasting, the result was still succulent, tender pork with a slightly caramelised exterior.
