Korean fusion food, pet-friendly space, and $4.50 Bingsu?

Kkoko-Sing, located at 19 East Coast Road in the vibrant Joo Chiat and Katong area, offers a lively dining spot that feels both creative and inviting.

You can find it opposite Katong V.

The name, inspired by the Korean expression 고고싱 (Gogosing) meaning “Let’s go!”, reflects the founders’ passion for bringing the warmth and creativity of Korean fusion cuisine to the East of Singapore.

The outdoor seating with pet-friendly setup, is a thoughtful touch for animal lovers looking to bring their furry companions along for a meal.

There is even a specially curated pets’ drinks menu.

The menu at Kkoko-Sing is an adventurous mix, where classic Korean flavours meet influences from local and international fare.

That said, it is worth noting that the offerings lean more towards fusion creations than traditional Korean dishes. Purists seeking an authentic Korean dining experience may find themselves slightly out of step with Kkoko-Sing’s approach.

Instead, think of it as a celebration of experimentation where familiar comfort foods are reimagined with Korean-inspired flavours.

From Galbi Pork to Citrus Bingsu, check out Kkoko-Sing’s playful twist on Korean comfort food:

Galbi Sesame Pork Belly Kkoko-Sing Korean Fusion Restaurant

Galbi Sesame Pork Belly Kkoko-Sing Korean Fusion Restaurant

Galbi Sesame Pork Belly ($20)
This has been a favourite among customers since opening days. Thick, caramelised slices of pork belly rest in a pool of sesame galbi sauce, with greens and white radish on the side.

The meat is tender, practically falling apart at the nudge of a fork.

The galbi sauce, while rich, has a touch of sweetness. Paired with a bowl of rice or a pillowy mantou (I recommend the mantou), it makes for a satisfying bite.

There’s a homely quality to this dish, making it feel more like something made in a home kitchen than a restaurant.

Prawn Soup Stew Kkoko-Sing Korean Fusion Restaurant

Prawn Soup Stew ($22)
Bright red prawns swim in a spicy, aromatic broth filled with silky tofu and enoki mushrooms.

The soup is brimming with flavour – savoury, with just enough heat that builds as you go.

I found the soup slightly on the saltier end, so best to pair with a fluffy bowl of rice.

Toowoomba Prawn Pasta Kkoko-Sing Korean Fusion Restaurant

Toowoomba Prawn Pasta ($18)
One of my favourite dishes from Kkoko-Sing, the spaghetti is generously coated in a creamy, slightly sweet onion-based sauce and topped with plump, fresh prawns.

I had to look up “Toowoomba” out of curiosity – it turns out it’s a city in Australia known for its creamy steakhouse pasta.

While the link to Korea isn’t clear, the Korean onion cream sauce adds a subtle savoury-sweet flavour that elevates the pasta without overpowering it.

Indulgent but not too heavy, making it an easy crowd-pleaser.

Ginseng Chicken Kkoko-Sing Korean Fusion Restaurant

Ginseng Chicken ($20)
The Ginseng Chicken arrives with a tender chicken leg, submerged in a clear, fragrant broth.

Note that this is not quite like the traditional samgyetang, and this version skips the glutinous rice.

The broth is clean yet robust, and the chicken practically falls off the bone.

There’s a strong herbal punch of ginseng, almost like something your grandmother might cook when you’re feeling under the weather.

Rice Cake with Minced Beef Kkoko-Sing Korean Fusion Restaurant

Rice Cake with Minced Beef ($18)
A dish great for sharing. What you get are chewy, soft rice cakes generously smothered in spicy gochujang sauce and topped with melted cheese.

The minced beef adds heartiness to the dish.

If you’re someone who loves Korean tteokbokki but craves a cheesier, more decadent version, this dish is for you. It’s a glorious mix of textures – stretchy, creamy, and with a pleasant heat.

Mushroom Pizza Kkoko-Sing Korean Fusion Restaurant

Mushroom Pizza ($18)
Topped with three types of mushrooms and a dakgalbi sauce base, the mushrooms provide an earthy contrast to the slightly spicy sauce.

The crust is thin and crispy, allowing the toppings to take centre stage.

Another recommended pizza choice is the Bratwurst Sausage Pizza ($18).

Deep-Fried Platter Kkoko-Sing Korean Fusion Restaurant

Deep-Fried Platter ($20)
The Deep-Fried Platter offers a mix of three types of crispy, golden bites that vary.

What I got included light and airy cheesy-rice cake balls, fish nuggets, and dumplings. Each item brings something different to the table.

The rice cake balls are crunchy on the outside, slightly gooey inside, while the dumplings are classic comfort food – crispy with a soft vegetable filling.

Chendol Bingsu and Citrus Burst Kkoko-Sing Korean Fusion Restaurant

Chendol Bingsu and Citrus Burst ($4.50 each)
At just $4.50 each, these Bingsu from Bingsusu are a great little indulgence. The Chendol Bingsu stays true to the classic dessert with its combination of gula melaka, pandan jelly, and red bean paste.

The Citrus Burst is brighter and more vibrant. The calamansi shaved ice is tart and refreshing, softened by the mango and strawberry nectar drizzled over it. The lychee poppers add an extra element of fun.

The portion size is perfect for one or to share if you’re just looking for a taste.

Cocktails - Asam Laksa Kkoko-Sing Korean Fusion Restaurant

Cocktails – Asam Laksa ($18 for 1, $30 for 2)
Rounding out the experience is the Asam Laksa Cocktail. It’s a bold drink, capturing the sweet, sour, spicy, and savoury essence of its namesake dish.

The combination might sound unusual at first, but it works surprisingly well.

The tangy notes hit first, followed by a warm, lingering spice. With that said, it is not a cocktail for everyone – the flavours are strong and distinctive.
