[Johor Bahru] After visiting Johor Bahru a number of times, my friends recommended me something different from the local eats… Korean Fried Chicken.
K Fry Urban Korean is located conveniently at Holiday Villa near KSL City Mall, a popular spot that often fills up quickly, especially during peak hours.
I think because the K-food there is quite legit.
If you have access to a car, driving might be the most convenient way to reach the restaurant. There’s parking available at the Holiday Villa Hotel and nearby areas.
By the way, K Fry Urban Korean also has outlets in several locations across Malaysia, including 1 Utama Shopping Center in Petaling Jaya, IOI City Mall in Putrajaya, as well as in Kuala Lumpur, Johor Bahru at Holiday Villa, and Batu Pahat.
There is a “No Pork No Lard No Alcohol” policy here, sourcing ingredients from Halal-certified suppliers, although it isn’t officially Halal-certified yet.
While the focus of K Fry is on the Korean Fried Chicken, the menu is extensive and features a variety of Korean dishes such as Jjigae (stews), Dosirak, Jjajang, sides and Bingsoo.
With choices from Garlic Soy Wings, Yangnyeom Wings, Spicy Yangnyeom, we decided to go for the K Fry Honey Butter Wings (RM28.90).
These wings were coated in a honey butter sauce that balanced sweetness with a buttery richness.
They still remained crispy, and were honestly not too bad a choice.
But people come here for the Cheesy Fried Chicken Bumbuk (RM73.00 onwards).
This dish consists of boneless fried chicken thigh meat, mixed with mozzarella cheese and served alongside thick-cut fries.
We decided to have the mini version instead (because the previous sounded like a mountain of meat) – Yangnyeom Cheesy Mini Fried Chicken Bumbuk (RM40.00).
It consists of K’rispy boneless thigh meat, generously dipped in Yangnyeom sauce, served with 100% Mozzarella Cheese mixed with a special cheese sauce.
What’s special is the dish is prepared at your table where the cheese is melted right before being wrapped around the chicken.
It made for a visually appealing and tasty experience.
We were torn between Bulgogi Fries (RM20.80) and Bulgogi Tater Tots (RM22.00), and went for the latter which was less commonly found.
This featured tater tots topped with either beef or chicken bulgogi and garnished with red and green onions.
If you like mayo, there is loads of it. Could be slightly jelak.
To wash down the savoury food, the non-alcoholic drinks, slushies or bingsoo, are popular choices.
K Fry Urban Korean in Johor Bahru delivers a lively Korean dining experience with its engaging meal presentations, and a vibrant atmosphere that is family-friendly.
