[London] I happened to see Blank Street Coffee almost ‘everywhere’ during this recent visit to London.
Blank Street Coffee actually originated in Brooklyn, New York in 2020.
The brand aims to provide affordable, high-quality coffee through a blend of automated technology and small, community-focused shops.
Despite being a relatively new chain, it has expanded rapidly, positioning itself as a more affordable alternative to some of the bigger coffee names in the market.
Blank Street Coffee’s key locations in London include areas like Canary Wharf, Soho, Camden, Battersea, King’s Cross, and Notting Hill.
You can’t miss them.
With a focus on speciality coffee, Blank Street aims to offer high-quality drinks at reasonable prices.
Most of their drinks come in under £4 (a Latte is at £3.20), which is less common in central London.
For coffee lovers, classics include a Hot Brew (£1.90), Americano (£2.90), Latte (£3.20), Flat White (£3.20), and Mocha (£3.90).
Their matcha options are popular, featuring Blueberry Matcha (£3.90), White Chocolate Matcha (£3.90), Watermelon Matcha Spritz (£4.20) and Mango Passionfruit Matcha (£4.40).
It seems like the menu leans heavily on trendy beverages, catering to younger consumers.
Perhaps this will appeal to the Gen Z, although some traditional coffee drinkers may find the offerings a bit too experimental.
I had the famed Iced Blueberry Matcha (since I like blueberries anyway).
This visually striking drink combines ceremonial-grade matcha with house-made blueberry with oat milk.
It does offer a refreshing balance of earthy matcha flavours and subtle blueberry sweetness.
While some people may find this strange, I liked the balance and fruity undertones (wished I had something like this back home).
One of the standout features of Blank Street is their use of the Eversys espresso machine, which helps maintain a consistent quality across their locations while keeping costs low.
The locations are known for being compact and utilitarian, designed for takeaway rather than lingering.
Perhaps not the best spot if you are seeking a cosy environment to sit down and relax.
