[London] The world’s first prison-based coffee company?
This café stands out not only for its coffee but also for its role in training young offenders in barista skills, aiding their rehabilitation.
Redemption Roasters in London offers a blend of quality coffee and a social mission.
I happened to find quite a number of outlets in London.
They are located at Kings Cross, Bloomsbury, Covent Garden, St James’s, Holborn, Islington High Street, Hampstead Heath, Dulwich Village, Farringdon, and Broadgate.
I made my way to the vibrant Kings Cross area, just north of King’s Cross Station within the Coal Drops Yard shopping district.
Just take a short walk from the station, and you would find yourself situated in a vibrant area surrounded by other shops and eateries.
Despite being crowded, the café’s ambience is welcoming, featuring stuccoed walls and communal tables that cater to both casual visitors and working patrons.
The menu at Redemption Roasters is versatile, serving up everything from your morning espresso to appetising pastries.
The display of freshly-baked pastries includes muffins, various cakes, croissants, almond croissants, blueberry muffins, asida, honey cake, cheese croissants, cinnamon rolls, apple turnovers, and brownies.
Their classic house espresso blend is “The Block”, featuring beans from Brazil and Nicaragua.
The Brazilian component comes from the Mogiana region, known for its rich, creamy body and flavors of milk chocolate, caramel, and hazelnut, accented by a dried fruit sweetness. It was good.
Prices are reasonable, with options ranging from £2 to £8, making it accessible for a regular morning coffee or a leisurely break.
