[London] WatchHouse has become quite a notable name in London.
While its primary appeal might be the coffee – sourced, roasted, and brewed with care – its food menu has been designed to match the attention to detail found in its coffee.
On this trip, I noticed that there are even more WatchHouse locations, including Seven Dials, Covent Garden, St. Mary Axe, Tower Bridge, Somerset House, Spitalfields, and Fetter Lane.
Each of its branches boasts a sleek, modern design that mixes industrial elements with warm wooden accents.
I decided to make my way to WatchHouse at Seven Dials again, which offers a polished café experience in the heart of London’s bustling West End.
The location is bright and inviting, spread across two levels, which adds to the airy feel.
I will recommend sitting upstairs rather than in the basement for a more open feel.
Despite its central location, the atmosphere remains relaxed, making it a good spot to take a break from the nearby shopping streets.
The breakfast offerings at WatchHouse feature hearty options like Hazelnut Overnight Oats (£6.50), Granola with Raspberry Compote (£6.50), Goats Cheese and Cassis Onion Tart (£12), and Protein Pancakes with Coconut Yoghurt (£12.50), a stack of pancakes topped with raspberry compote and hazelnut spread.
Egg-based dishes include Poached Eggs on Toast (£7), Avocado on Toast (£8.50), and the Full House (£14.50) with smoked bacon, sausage, poached eggs, and roasted mushrooms.
As I wanted something light, I decided to go for the pastries, which looked very tempting on display.
The recommended options include Banana Bread (£4.50), Cherry and Almond Tart (£4.80), Carrot Cake (£4.80), Espresso and Walnut Financier (£3.60), and Lemon Polenta Cake (£5.40).
Loved the Cherry and Almond Tart (£4.80).
The tart crust is buttery and delicate, while the almond filling is rich and slightly chewy, complemented by the fruity sharpness of the cherries.
The Banana Bread (£4.50), on the other hand, is moist and comforting, with a gentle sweetness from the ripe bananas and topped with espresso butter.
If you are there mainly for the coffee, you will not be disappointed.
Their “Rituals” and “Horizons” coffee offerings provide a wide range of flavour profiles, with something for every palate, from smooth, milk-based drinks to vibrant and fruity filter coffees.
The quality of the coffee and the atmosphere generally make it a worthwhile stop in London.
