[Sapporo] Have you dined at Komeda’s Coffee コメダ珈琲店 before?
This popular chain, originally from Nagoya, has over 940 stores across Japan, and it is easy to see why.
Having been around since 1968 makes it one of the longstanding and familiar coffee shop chains in Japan, particularly known for its relaxed, living-room style atmosphere.
Their service is consistent, and the ambiance is super welcoming with spacious seating and a cosy, home-like vibe.
As I was in the heart of Sapporo and looking for a reliable breakfast spot, I was directed to Komeda’s Coffee.
Their menu is a mix of local and Western dishes, so there’s something for everyone.
This includes signature coffees, sandwiches, and desserts like their Shiro-Noir, a Danish pastry paired with soft-serve ice cream.
Think katsu sandwiches, pasta, beef stew – you name it.
One of the best parts?
Every morning before 11am, you get a half-slice of thick toast with your coffee on the house.
You can even add spreads like homemade egg mayo or red bean paste.
In the ‘Toast That’s Crispy on the Outside, Soft on the Inside’ section, offerings include Obura Sweet & Sour Toast and Pizza Toast with Plenty of Egg.
For those preferring a lighter meal, the “A Hot Dogs for a Light Meal” section includes handmade options like the Egg & Cheese Dog and the Plain Hot Dog.
Prices range from 490 to 520 Yen, which makes an affordable breakfast.
Snack options like the Mini Kome Basket and the Mini Sandwich provide quick, tasty bites for around 490 to 640 Yen, ideal for those in search of a quick snack.
I had the Mini Kome Basket (640 Yen) which combines the mini sandwich with pieces of juicy, boneless Komeda chicken.
Straight-forward stuff which is value for its money.
For coffee, the Komeda Blend (560 Yen) is a traditional blend of four types of beans, roasted into seven different varieties and then slowly steamed.
If you like a velvety coffee, try the Vienna Coffee (640 Yen) served with a dollop of whipped cream.
For a sweeter version, go for the Honey Café au Lait Viennese (660 Yen) with milk and honey.
Komeda’s comforting ambiance, coupled with more private booth seatings, is ideal for a cosy meal and savouring your coffee.
