[SHANGHAI] Nudake Haus Nowhere in Shanghai, a concept by Gentle Monster, offers an immersive retail experience blending art, fashion, and dessert culture.

This unique space, part of the larger Haus Shanghai, sits on the bustling Huaihai Middle Road.

I made it a point to visit HAUS NOWHERE by Gentle Monster in Shanghai this trip.

This is the second ‘HAUS 0 10 10 10 1’ by Gentle Monster, following HAUS Dosan in Apgujeong, Seoul.

Similar to their first store in Seoul, HAUS NOWHERE SHANGHAI gathers multiple brands under the same roof, a new direction in the future of retail industry.

The first floor of HAUS NOWHERE SHANGHAI houses their own dessert brand – NUDAKE with the slogan, “MAKE NEW FANTASY! DESSERT OF YOUR DREAMS”, presenting interesting artistic and unprecedented desserts.

Fans of JENNIE from BlackPink can also catch a glimpse of JENTLE SALON, a collaboration between Gentle Monster and JENNIE in their eyewear collection.

The second floor presents the world’s largest Gentle Monster store with various installations and artwork.

The third floor is a showcase of various Korean brands and streetwear while the fourth floor features China’s first TAMBURINS Flagship store.

Each NUDAKE outlet is different from one another.

NUDAKE Sinsa in Seoul features croissant in the form of onigiri (triangular Japanese rice balls) whereas NUDAKE HAUS NOWHERE in Shanghai is a “croissant gym”

The croissant gym features a variety of fitness equipment and elements all crafted to resemble or incorporate croissants.

One can find barbell-shaped croissants, croissant-adorned treadmills, and even weightlifting dumbbells made with croissants.

The interactive experience allows visitors to engage with the croissant-themed equipment, making it more than just a visual feast.

It reminds guests to “work out” after indulging in the high-carb croissants.

Ironically, NUDAKE HAUS NOWHERE doesn’t sell any croissants on the menu, except for one item: Iced Crop Choco Latte (RMB 55, SGD 10.30) which features a croissant placed on the beverage.

Their menu is a downsized version compared to HAUS DOSAN in Seoul, featuring only 6 Signature beverages (RMB 30 – 55, SGD 5.60 – 10.30) and 3 Desserts (RMB 90 – 150, SGD 16.80 – 28).

The Iced Creamy Latte (RMB 50, SGD 9.30) is their edition of the viral crackling latte, where diners will squeeze the cup to crack open the chocolate lining the sides to reveal the content in it.

As for the Iced Creamy Matcha Latte (RMB 50, SGD 9.30), it is rich and creamy with a distinctive matcha taste, leaning towards the sweeter side.

I had already tried the FOG (RMB 90, SGD 16.80) in Seoul, an acronym for Fresh cream, Olive, Gyeran (Korean name for “Egg”), consisting of various elements in the dessert.

Therefore, I decided to try the remaining 2 desserts on the menu, namely the Colosseo (RMB 150, SGD 28) and Pieta (RMB 90, SGD 16.80).

I must say that it is really pricey. The Colosseo (RMB 150, SGD 28) does remind me of an Oreo cookie, filled with velvety smooth mascarpone cheese in the middle, encased by a charcoal tart shell that gives it a nice crunch.

The Pieta (RMB 90, SGD 16.80), on the other hand, is more refreshing, shaped like a mask with light yuzu cream and cream cheese mousse cake.

It is always fun to visit NUDAKE as it combines visual and flavours in the food, with a sensory experience in their space.
