[Bangkok] This is one aesthetic café for those seeking a quiet escape in the heart of Bangkok at Asok.
The other surprise?
This café is co-owned by a Singapore design studio, Greydient Lab. (After some background research, I found that the design consultancy excels in creating impactful digital products and brand communications.)
Greydient & Them is a collaboration between the aforementioned Greydient Lab and Them.x Coffee from Samut Prakan.
This collaboration has resulted in a trendy and visually appealing loft-style café, just a short walk from Asok BTS station (the side of Jetts 24 Hour Fitness).
Once inside, the hustle and bustle of nearby the Asok junction fades entirely, offering peaceful and chill vibes.
Although the café isn’t particularly large, it comfortably accommodates its guests.
Not surprisingly, the ambience of Greydient & Them has an industrial-chic element, with a trendy loft aesthetic design that reflects the collaboration’s creative roots.
Their menu is generally coffee-focused, offering a variety of coffee blends and special drinks.
Try the in-house Greydient Blend, a medium roast combining beans from Brazil’s Cerrado region and Thailand’s Mae Jan Tai.
The blend has an inviting aroma with earthy notes, hints of fruitiness, and nutty undertones.
Special drinks include the Bandung Breeze, Peanut Butter Cocoa, Coffee Cola, and Yuzu Coffee.
For a Singaporean, the one drink that caught my attention was the Bandung Blitz (THB 140), inspired by Singapore’s beloved Bandung, a pink milk drink with rose syrup.
The pink milk at the bottom represents Singapore, while the jasmine-scented cream on top adds a touch of Thai elegance.
If you’re drawn to floral nuances, this drink will be a treat. I did think that this was closer to a rose latte than say a Bandung latte (as Bandung has a specific distinct taste).
The barista recommended to try the Som Som, a refreshing summer drink made with real orange juice and pulp, served with fresh cream.
It is topped with Biscoff caramel biscuits for that crunch.
For those looking for a tropical twist, go for the Cold Brew Lychee (THB 130) which combines the delicate sweetness of lychee with the smoothness of cold brew coffee.
Greydient & Them also offers a selection of in-house made cakes.
The Banoffee, Basque Cheesecake, Carrot Cake, Cranberry Scone, and Banana Bread are all highly recommended.
The Banoffee, with its layers of banana, caramel, and cream, is a particular favourite.
The overall experience at Greydient & Them is enhanced by its thoughtful interior design and strategic location.
Whether you are stopping by for a quick coffee or spending a leisurely afternoon, the café provides a blend of aesthetics and specially-created drinks.
