Striking Brunch Café with Premium Fusion Pasta and Fluffy Cakes
OMGM is a new dining concept offering a fusion of Western and Asian flavours. It collaborates with Godmother, a Vietnamese chiffon cake brand, to provide soft and moist chiffon cakes.

Overseen by Chef Chalee Kader from the 1-Star Michelin restaurant Wana Yook, the menu offers Western-style dishes with Japanese and Korean influence.

Dishes I spotted include Lobster Mac & Cheese (THB 1550), Penne Sake Sauce with Burrata Cheese (THB 750), Linguine Beef Bulgogi (THB 550), Four Cheese Ravioli with Beef Ragu (THB 520).

The chiffon cakes come in varieties of flavours, including Hokkaido Milk Block (THB 390), French Earl Grey (THB 490), Cheese Black (THB 490), and Strawberry Benji (THB 390).

Made fresh in-store, Strawberry Benji cake had a delicate base with a fluffy and soft-pillowy texture. The sponge was so light and moist, serving as the perfect canvas for the vibrant flavours.

The slightly tart notes of strawberries contrast beautifully with the gentle sweetness of the chiffon. The cream atop added this smooth and rich finish, yet not overly indulgent-tasting.

San Rafael Cafe
552 9 Bang Waek Road, Bang Phai, Bang Khae, Bangkok 10160, Thailand
Opening Hours: 7am – 6pm (Mon – Sun)

Google Maps – San Rafael Cafe

Pleasantly Cosy Spot to Chill at the Outskirts of Bangkok
San Rafael is a huge double-storey high cafe with a range of items, including takeaway brunch, breakfast pies, strawberry shortcake, completo, cakes, cheesecake, and fruitcake.

I had Iced Coconut Coffee (THB 180, SGD 7) and Iced Lychee Blossom Coffee (THB 190, SGD 7.20), a refreshing drink with the sweet lychee juice counterbalancing the robust coffee.

Riding on the trend of circular croissants, San Rafael Cafe served a total of 4 flavours (THB 165, SGD 6.30), fully coated in Yuzu Meringue, Salted Eggs, Hokkaido Milk and Matcha.

Their selection of desserts displayed is also pretty and enticing. It has Strawberry Choco (THB 265, SGD 10), Strawberry Cheesecake (THB 225, SGD 8.50), Chocolate Rocher (THB 275, SGD 10.50), Bourbon Vanilla (THB 275, SGD 10.50), Mixed Berry Tart (THB 185, SGD 7), and more.

The Coconut Delight (THB 220, SGD 8.50), my favourite, was shaped like a coconut in a chocolate tart shell. It has smooth and velvety coconut mousse, vanilla sponge cake, and coconut bits.

Opened at 7 am daily, San Rafael Cafe is an ideal spot for those who start their day early, except that it is quite a distance from the city centre.

% Arabica Bangkok – Empire Tower
Empire Tower Level 55, 1 S Sathon Road, Yan Nawa, Sathon, Bangkok 10120, Thailand
Opening Hours: 7am – 9pm (Mon – Sun)

Google Maps – % Arabica Cafe

Japanese Café with Enhancing Cityscape View from the 55th Floor
% Arabica is a familiar name for many café lovers, a renowned Japanese coffee brand known for its minimalist design.

Originating in Kyoto, % Arabica has expanded rapidly since its introduction to Thailand in 2014 and now boasts over eight branches across Bangkok, including the popular Empire Tower location.

Located on the 55th floor, this particular branch offers an experience with its elevated position, providing a panoramic vista of Bangkok’s skyline while you enjoy your coffee.

Maple Latte (THB 150, THB 180 for Iced) is one of their signatures. While I wished the maple taste to be more pronounced, it was a welcomed change from the more predictable flavours.

The Soft Cream is another highlight and a nod to the brand’s Japanese roots. It is a creamy and luxurious treat known for its silky texture and pure flavours.

KIF
8 Soi Sukhumvit 63, Phra Khanong, Watthana, Bangkok 10110, Thailand
Opening Hours: 8am – 10am (Mon – Sun)

Google Maps – KIF

Serene Green Oasis Offering Selections of Beverages
The cafe manages to create a quaint green space with natural light shining through the floor-to-ceiling glass walls, offering a peaceful oasis from the bustling city.

The menu offers classics, non-coffees, and specials. Some popular ones are Espresso (THB 100, SGD 3.80), Cappuccino/Latte, Mocha (THB 120, SGD 4.50), Frappes (THB 140 – 150, SGD 5.30 – 5.70), Coconut Dirty Matcha (THB 140, SGD 5.30), and Black Tropical (THB 150, SGD 5.70).

Black Matcha (THB 140, SGD 5.30) was smooth and well-balanced with little astringency. The matcha cream with its earthy tone and umami notes elevated the entire drink’s taste profile.

Tiramisu Iced Coffee (THB 150, SGD 5.70) tasted similar to the dessert but in drink form. A ladyfinger on the glass top is best to dip in your sweet and creamy tiramisu latte.

This establishment has become a beloved spot for locals, known for its quality offerings and the genuine warmth of its staff.

Ksana Matcha

Bittersweet Matcha in the Antelope Canyon-Inspired Interior
What first piqued my interest was its OOTD-worthy aesthetic. How brilliant of them to create the trick room effect by constructing walls that mimic the natural contours of Antelope Canyon.

One can then experience hiding in a “canyon” for some peaceful moments and escape from outer world chaos while sipping on their matcha offerings.

The menu has 3 types of tea – Ceremonial Grade Matcha (Costal Breeze), Premium Grade Matcha (Bitter Rainforest) and Ceremonial Grade Hojicha (Smokey Peaks) – with methodology options.

For instance, Ceremonial Grade Matcha comes as Latte (Hot/Iced) (THB 200, SGD7.80), Usucha (Hot/Iced) (THB 170, SGD6.70), or Koicha (Hot) (THB 190, SGD7.50). However, Ceremonial Grade Hojicha is only available in Latte (Hot/Iced) (THB 160, SGD6.30).

For matcha beginners, Premium Grade Matcha in Hot Latte would be the best bet. You can taste gentle grassy notes with hints of earthy flavour.

This beverage is finished with a bittersweet umami aftertaste that blends well with the creamy milk.

Susan Croissant

Opening Hours: 7am – 7pm (Mon – Sun)

Google Maps – Susan Croissant

Croissants and Frido with Countless Flavours to Try
Susan Croissant is a cosy café in Ekkamai carrying croissants that are easy to eat and equally easy on the eye. They were quite the hit on Instagram.

Funnily enough, the point of creating smaller-than-usual croissants was to cater to office workers, who prefer having their food convenient on the go.

Susan Croissant is also known for its variety. Recommended include the Raspberry Lychee (129 THB), Lime & Lemon (79 THB), Truffle (139 THB), Pizza Salami (99 THB), Macadamia (79 THB), Loaded Croissant (129 THB), and so many more.

One of the best-sellers is the Almond Cream Croissant (55 THB). Decadent almond-infused buttercream fills the airy croissant, with Californian almonds on top for an added crunch.

Lychee & Raspberry Croissant (129 THB) was fluffy with surprises – the velvety-smooth custard was sweet and tangy, and more than just a good looker.

Also try luxe and surprising desserts of Frido, a cross-section of the doughnut and croissant with custard fillings. Choices include Walnut Bomb Frido (239 THB), Creamy Almond Frido (170 THB), Raspberry and Custard Cream Frido (219 THB).

Alice Cafe

Opening Hours: 8:30am – 4:30pm (Mon – Sun)

Google Maps – Alice Cafe

Relaxing European-Style Café with Large Menu Selection
Originally an old house, the cafe is renovated extensively with modern twists. The menu includes savoury dishes (an even healthier vegan selection), desserts, and drinks.

There are Tom Yum Goong (180 THB), Tom Kha Kai (160 THB), Pad Thai Goong Sod (165 THB), Club Sandwich (165 THB), Chicken Sandwich (125 THB), and many more.

Shanghai Spicy Stir-fried Noodle with Pork (135 THB) was considered sumptuous with fresh ingredients, but note that the spiciness level is rather high.

Toast with Butter and Ispahan Jam (85 THB) dessert has become my favourite with delicately perfumed jam and fluffy bread.

Thai Milk Tea (60 THB) was rich and creamy, neither too sweet nor bitter. An antidote for hot weather. A Matcha Latte (80 THB) could give that refreshing feeling, with sweetness on point.

Iced Coconut Milk with Black Sesame (85 THB) was a pleasant surprise, especially when it is not a common drink to find. There was an earthy aroma of creamy coconut and black sesame.

Peaceful Riverside Café in An Old Building
These two centuries-old buildings by an alley in the Talat Noi neighbourhood near Chinatown in Bangkok have been given a new lease of life after a year-long renovation.

It is in this setting where you can get a nice cup of their signature Talad Noi Orange Coffee (140 THB), Coconut Blossom Coffee (140 THB) or Sparkling Red Peach Tea (160 THB) to mull on.

The orange coffee comes with the fragrance of citrus and injects freshness into the dense taste of coffee.

Besides the Western staples, the cafe also serves Fried Salmon Fins with Fish Sauce (240 THB), Fried Sun-Dried Beef with Fish Sauce (240 THB), Black Pepper Powk Jowl (220 THB), and more.

Select a beautiful, social media-worthy dessert from their collection of pastries and tarts, including
Raspberry Tartlet (200 THB), Strawberry Tart (180 THB), Carrot Cake Bar (140 THB), and more.

Oh, and have a seat in their backyard, where a patio has been erected and decked out with comfortable seating. You will be treated to a panorama view of the majestic riverside.

Flat+White Cafe
810/5 Thara Rom 2 Alley, Khlong Tan Nuea, Watthana, Bangkok 10110, Thailand
Opening Hours: 9am – 6pm (Mon – Sun)

Google Maps – Flat+White Cafe

Elegant Café With All-White and Airy Interior
The building is easy to notice for its sleek milk carton-shaped design and all-white colour. The interior highlight is the majestic curved white staircase on the back wall.

As for the wave-shaped wall décor, it is said to be inspired by the softness of milk cream and microfoam, characteristic of Flat White Coffee.

The menu has a variety of drinks (both coffee and non-coffee), desserts, and savoury food. Recommended drinks include Mel+Ple Iced Latte (150 THB), Dirty (150 THB), Iced Matcha (130 THB), Black Peach (150 THB), Hojicha Pistachio Soy (150 THB), and Pink Guava Tangmo (150 THB).\

Dirty (150 THB) has intense coffee, not very milky. A little surprise came when I could smell the light scent of pistachio and hazelnut, dusted with some hojicha.

The cafe also offers pastries and Western-Asian foods, such as King Prawn Spaghettini (390 THB), Furikake Hotate Poke (450 THB), and Brunch Bagel (270 THB).

French Toast with Fresh Fruits (100 THB) was surprisingly inexpensive. Plus, the fruits were fresh-tasting, and the whipped cream was light and fluffy, a perfect match to the buttery toast.
