[Bangkok] Sarnies Café should be a familiar name to Singapore coffee lovers, with a flagship outlet at Telok Ayer.
Originally founded in 2011 by Benjamin Lee, an Australian ex-finance professional, the brand expanded to Bangkok in 2018.
Sarnies became known for transforming a 150-year-old boat repair shop into a trendy café in the city’s Creative District.
Now, you can find it at Sukhumvit Soi 37, Soi Pridi Banomyong 26, and Soi Charoen Krung 44.
Sarnies blends Thai ingredients with Aussie-style dishes across its multiple Bangkok locations.
I visited the newest location with a branding of “Sarnies カフェ Sukhumvit” at Sukhumvit Soi 37, a short walk from Phrom Phong BTS station.
The ambience at Sarnies Café is a significant part of its appeal.
The café is designed with a minimalist, Japanese-inspired aesthetic, featuring light-coloured wooden interiors that create a calm and zen-like atmosphere.
This simplicity in design is both elegant and functional, offering a tranquil space that is well-suited for various activities.
Noticed there are quite number of expats and foreigners around, for enjoying a leisurely meal, working remotely, or simply relaxing with a cup of coffee.
The natural light that floods through large windows adds to the vibes.
One of the standout features of Sarnies is its diverse menu, from hearty breakfast options to more refined dinner dishes.
Brunch items include Japanese Curry Omelette (THB 400), Miso Kombu Egg Benedict (THB 420), Granola Bowl (THB 300), Sourdough Pancakes with Apple Miso Caramel (THB 380), to Avocado Toast (THB 360).
I had the Bacon & Egg Roll (THB 430) with crispy free-range bacon, fluffy scrambled eggs, and sweet caramelised onions.
This is balanced by the smokiness of the tomatoes and the kick from the miso hot sauce, all in a toasted English muffin.
Tangy Japanese pickles and crunchy sweet potato fries on the side round out this hearty breakfast plate.
Despite its overall appeal, some online reviews have mentioned that the service can be a bit slow during peak hours, which might slightly affect the otherwise peaceful atmosphere.
However, the quality of the setting often compensates for these minor lapses.
Sarnies is a go-to café spot for those seeking a calm and aesthetically pleasing environment in the heart of Sukhumvit.
