The charming neighborhood of Song Wat has gained a new gem with Local Boys Coffee, which blends modern hip vibes with the area’s historic charm.
Never been to Song Wat before?
Song Wat near Chinatown is a quaint, historic area in Bangkok, offering a blend of old-world charm and vibrant new café spots.
The nearest MRT station is Wat Mangkon, which is about a 12-minute walk away.
You can also reach Song Wat by ferry; the Rachawongse pier is just a 3-minute walk from the neighbourhood.
You may just walk past Local Boys Coffee without noticing because it blends in with the surroundings.
But once you get in, the café stands out with its vibrant neon lights and graffiti, adding a contemporary take.
The menu caters to both coffee aficionados and casual drinkers, offering slow brew options for those who savour the process and speed bar choices for those on the go.
More straightforward choices include Espresso Shot (THB 110), Black (THB 140), White (THB 160), and Brown (THB 150).
For something more adventurous, you can try the Dirty Coffee (THB 160), Coconut Dirty Coffee (THB 180), Mocha Bot (THB 170) or the ES Yen Local Boys (THB 160).
If you are in the mood for something fruity, options like Yuzu Boom (THB 155) and Mango Boom (THB 150) are also available.
I told the barista to pick a choice for me (yes, anything), and it turned out to be Peanut Butter Coffee (THB 160).
The first surprise?
The coffee is served in a can that is sealed in-store.
The can’s convenient packaging makes it perfect for taking on the go, ensuring that the flavours remain fresh and enjoyable even after leaving the café.
Surprisingly, I liked this Peanut Butter coffee.
It wasn’t as creamy or rich as expected, with a subtle sweetness and nutty taste of peanut butter (just subtly) that complements the coffee’s natural bitterness.
Local Boys Coffee is a spot where serious coffee meets a fun, welcoming atmosphere.
