Famous for OBBA BBQ and OBBA Jjajang, the OBBA restaurant group has just opened a brand new concept, OBBA HanPan BBQ.
To find it, make your way to the second floor of OBBA Jjajang located on 77 Tanjong Pagar Road.
What’s HanPan 한판?
In the context of Korean BBQ, HanPan refers to a set of assorted items served on a single platter.
Instead of the usual self-grill experience common in most Korean barbecue spots, the meat here is pre-grilled in a specialised grilling room before being served.
This method ensures each cut is cooked to perfection and spares diners the hassle of cooking, leaving them free to focus entirely on the enjoyment of their meal.
The HanPan menu is quite diverse, with options ranging from standard beef and pork cuts to more adventurous offerings like pork rectum and beef large intestines – which the Koreans love.
There’s also Iberico pork and galmeki, a cut of skirt meat prized for its tenderness and flavour. For my visit, I chose the new HanPan Set. Here’s more:
NEW HanPan Set ($89)
This set includes prime beef, prime rose-fed pork belly, and the lid pan kimchi fried rice.
When the HanPan Set arrived, it was presented on a heated pan, a way to keep the food warm throughout the meal.
The arrangement was visually enticing, with the meats surrounded by an assortment of accompaniments.
The sides included several types of kimchi, mushrooms, tofu, leeks, sausage, mantou (soft steamed buns), and a special house-made spicy sauce.
The prime beef was a definite highlight. It was grilled till medium, with a rich, slightly charred exterior that gave way to a juicy, tender interior. You can grill it further if you prefer your beef more cooked.
I actually preferred the prime rose-fed pork belly. It had a good meaty bite, and yet still tender enough.
This will go well with the spicy dipping sauce, or add some kimchi for a cabbage wrap.
The Lid Pan Kimchi Fried Rice from the HanPan set deserves its own spotlight. Served at the end of the meal, this dish felt like a culmination of everything before it.
Topped with a generous layer of cheese and torched until the surface was golden and slightly crisp, it was indulgent yet satisfying. It was even arranged in a heart shape. Saranghae.
You get the crispy surface giving way to soft, flavourful rice underneath, with spicy, tangy flavour of the kimchi mingling with the creamy, slightly smoky cheese.
Ganjang Gejang (Soy Sauce Marinated Crab) ($30 for 1 crab, $50 for 2, $70 for 3)
The Soy Sauce Marinated Crab is a recently added dish, and turned out to be popular among customers.
Eating Ganjang Gejang is a full hands-on, interactive experience.
First, gently squeeze the meat and roe from the shell using your hands or a small spoon. Pair it with warm rice to soak up the briny juices, enhancing the dish’s flavour complexity.
The raw egg yolk garnish adds an extra layer of silkiness when mixed with the crab and rice.
The crab’s flesh is sweet and tender, infused with the savoury depth of the soy marinade.

This time-based promotion allows diners to enjoy a refreshing beer at great value during earlier hours, gradually increasing in price as the evening progresses. It’s a cooling companion to the flavour-packed dishes served at OBBA.
