The World’s 50 Best Restaurants has announced the 2017 list of restaurants ranked from 1 to 100.
Eleven Madison Park from New Year City, helmed by Will Guidara and Swiss-born chef Daniel Humm, takes the Number 1 spot for the first time.
The World’s Best Restaurant 2016 Osteria Francescana from Modena, Italy fell a place to Number 2, while previous front-runner Noma by Chef René Redzepi is not considered, likely because it is currently a pop-up concept.
Restaurant André from Singapore climbs an impressive 18 places to secure the No.14 spot while Den in Tokyo, the 2016 recipient of the Miele One To Watch Award, arrives on the list at No.45. Asia is also represented by Tokyo’s Narisawa (No.18), Hong Kong’s Amber (No.24), Bangkok’s Nahm (No.28) and Shanghai’s Ultraviolet by Paul Pairet (No.41).

The World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2017. Number 51 to 100
The 2017 list includes debuts from Mexico (Sud 777, No.75), USA (Atelier Crenn, No.83), Russia (Selfie, No.88), South Korea (Mingles, No.89), Denmark (Kadeau, No.94), Japan (Sushi Saito, No. 97 and Florilège, No.99) and Brazil (Olympe, No.100).
Nine establishments honoured at this year’s Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2017 awards, which took place in Bangkok in February, are included on the 2017 51-100 list, including three from Japan. Tokyo’s Nihonryori Ryugin, (No.52) claims the top ranking among Asia’s entries, one place ahead of Singapore’s Burnt Ends.
Odette from Singapore, winner of the Highest New Entry at Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants awards, debuts at No.86 while 8½ Otto e Mezzo Bombana in Hong Kong rises 26 places to No.60.
