When you talk about some of the best Pig’s Organ Soup in Singapore, Cheng Mun Chee Kee Pig Organ Soup 正文志记猪什汤大王 and Authentic Mun Chee Kee King of Pig’s Organ Soup 正正文志记猪什汤大王 should come to mind.

One’s “Zheng Wen Zhi” 正文志 (at 24 Foch Road), and the other is “Zheng Zheng Wen Zhi” 正正文志 (at 65 Maude Road).

Do you know there is another one?

When the lesser-heard-about Zheng Zhi Wen Ji Pig’s Organ Soup 正志文记猪什汤 at Clementi 448 Market & Food Centre was newly listed in the Michelin Guide Singapore (instead), I did wonder…

Did the inspectors visit the other two shops?

Business was as usual at Zheng Zhi Wen Ji Pig’s Organ Soup at Clementi 448, also featuring a similar red signage.

Other than the signature Pig’s Organ Soup ($5.50), there are also other offerings of Bak Kut Teh ($6.50), Pig’s Stomach Soup ($5.50), Braised Pig’s Trotter ($6.50) and Loin Meat Soup ($5.50).

If you haven’t had Pig’s Organ Soup before, the soup is made primarily from pork offal, including organs such as liver, kidney, and intestines.

The broth itself is typically clear and light, included with ingredients like tofu and salted vegetables which adds depth and slight saltiness.

The soup from Zheng Zhi Wen was on the cleaner-tasting side and rather muted (in comparison), without strong peppery or salted vegetable taste. I wished it came more piping hot as well.

As for the ingredients, they happened to be a mixed bag.

The pork slices were tough and dry making them hard to chew, while the intestines were at least soft without a strong stench.

Despite these inconsistencies, Zheng Zhi Wen Ji Pig’s Organ Soup remains a relatively popular choice among diners in Clementi.

But people may come expecting more, now that the stall has found itself recognised by the Michelin Guide
